Ski resort hotel in the Vosges Massif
The Champ du Feu is first and foremost a unique, unspoilt natural area to discover in the Massif des Vosges in Alsace. Moors and century-old deciduous and coniferous forests majestically surround the highest point in the Bas-Rhin, at 1,099 metres, offering a spectacular landscape.
A magical, unspoilt site in the heart of Alsace.
Listed as a Natura 2000 site for its remarkable flora and fauna, the Champ du Feu is a magical place, unspoilt by noise or light.
Although it is isolated at the summit, it is nonetheless easily accessible. Merely 3 hours from Paris, less than an hour from Strasbourg or Colmar. and 30 minutes from Obernai, it is close to the treasures of Alsace and the Vosges: the wine route, Haut-Koenigsbourg castle, the sanctuary of Mont Sainte-Odile, the delightful town of Obernai, the confectionery of the Hautes-Vosges, Lake Gérardmer, and the omnipresent nature. It is a real invitation to rest and contemplate.

The Champ du Feu site, past and présent
A long love affair between the Champ du Feu, the Bas-Rhinois and the Ban de la Rochois.
Because it is positioned more to the north than other French mountain ranges, the Champ du Feu is said to have been an early adopter of skiing, a sport that originated in Scandinavia.
Now regarded as one of the forerunners of European skiing, Champ du Feu was the training centre for many instructors and a place of innovation for the world of skiing. Artificial snow was used as early as 1963, and floodlit pistes two years later.
These infrastructures contributed to the development of skiing in Europe. It is on a more emotional level that the site remains anchored today in the collective imagination of the region. For many Bas-Rhinois, the Champ du Feu is still associated with the first pleasures of skiing in winter and hiking in summer and days and weekends spent with friends or family.
People from Strasbourg used to come to the Bruche valley by train on Sundays. They would get off at the stations in Rothau, Fouday or Saint-Blaise-la-Roche and walk up to the heights to make a few descents before heading back down at nightfall.
The development of reception facilities
To enable winter sports enthusiasts to stay for several days, the clubs began to build a number of chalets at Champ du Feu.
The Ski Club Vosgien 96, was first.
The construction of a 20-metre tower also dates from this period. Erected in 1898 to mark the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Club Vosgien and recently restored by the Bellefosse commune, it now serves as a lookout point for the resort, at an altitude of 1,099 metres.
La passion du ski, l'attachement à ce milieu naturel unique et l'amour du lieu, partagés par de nombreux Bas-Rhinois, ont conduit Henri Morel à reprendre et à rénover ce symbole de l'Alsace des sommets.
Today, Mont Champ du Feu is a modern resort, suitable for all types of skiing and outdoor activities, with a 4-star hotel, a bistro restaurant, a traditional inn, a swimming pool, and a spa. Its aim is to offer a unique holiday experience, while respecting the natural environment that makes it so magical.
A place for gourmet pleasures all year round
The memory of the Hazemann family, who ran the century-old inn known throughout the region, lives on in the bistronomic Table du Champé, now run by Chef Marc Koeniguer, and the traditional Auberge Hazemann, which is still the meeting place for lovers of Champ du Feu and skiing.
All year round, Mont Champ du Feu is a Mecca for gourmet pleasures.
